Terms of Use

About these terms

This website is operated by Agora for Cultural Development, a cultural development and advisory organisation based in Cairo, Egypt. By using the site — reading it, sending us a form, booking a session or taking a course — you accept these terms.

If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Using the site

You may read this site, and use its forms for their intended purpose. You may not:

  • submit information that is false, or that belongs to someone else without their permission;
  • use the forms to send unsolicited advertising, or to abuse or harass anyone;
  • attempt to gain access to any part of the site, or to any account, that is not yours;
  • interfere with how the site works, or place an unreasonable load on it, whether by automated means or otherwise.

We limit how often the public forms can be submitted from one place. This is to prevent abuse; it is not a judgement about you.

Accounts

You need an account to enrol in a course. Keep your password to yourself; anything done through your account is treated as done by you. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.

An account is personal. Do not share it, and do not let anyone else take a course or an exam using it. We may suspend or close an account that is shared, or that is used in a way these terms do not permit.

You can ask us to close your account at any time.

Courses and certificates

Enrolling in a course gives you personal access to its materials for your own learning. You may read and download them for that purpose. You may not republish them, share them, sell them, or use them to teach a course of your own, without our written permission.

A certificate records that a named person completed a named course and passed its final exam on a given date. It is not an academic qualification and does not carry accreditation, unless the course page says otherwise. Certificates can be checked by anyone at our verification page.

We may improve or update a course while you are enrolled. If we withdraw a course entirely, we will tell enrolled students and give reasonable notice.

Consultations

Booking a session reserves a time for a conversation. It is not a contract for a piece of work, and nothing said in a session creates one; any engagement that follows is agreed separately in writing.

What we discuss in a session is treated as confidential, and we expect the same in return.

Guidance given in a consultation is professional opinion based on what you tell us in the time available. It is not legal, financial or regulatory advice, and you should take specialist advice before acting on anything with legal or financial consequences.

Cancelling and rescheduling are covered by our refunds and cancellations page.

What belongs to whom

The text, images, course materials and design of this site belong to Agora for Cultural Development or to the people who made them for us, and are protected by copyright. Partner and funder logos belong to those organisations and appear with their permission.

You may quote or link to the site with attribution. Anything more — reproducing a substantial part of it, or using it commercially — needs our permission first.

What you send us stays yours. By sending it you allow us to use it for the purpose you sent it for. We will not publish your name, your biography or your organisation publicly without asking you.

Accuracy, availability and liability

We take care to keep this site accurate and current, but we do not promise that everything on it is complete or free of error, and we may change it at any time. Information published here is general; it is not advice for your particular situation.

We aim to keep the site available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, hosting problems and matters outside our control can all interrupt it.

Where this site links to another organisation's website, we do not control that site and are not responsible for its content or its handling of your information.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the courts of Cairo have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

We may update these terms. The date at the bottom of this page shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
